The Maiden Initiation Path

A Sacred Rite of Passage for Teen Girls Entering Young Womanhood

Hosted by The Gathered Roots Collective of Nevada City with Ceremony Keeper of Tree of Life Initiation

Applications Now Open for the 2026–2027 Journey

There are moments in life that deserve to be marked.
The first cycle.
The changing body.
The emerging voice.
The crossing from girlhood into maidenhood.

Yet in modern culture, many young girls enter this threshold unsupported, uncelebrated, and without a meaningful map for what is unfolding inside them.

The Maiden Initiation Path was created to change that.

This is a powerful, nature-based, community-held rite of passage designed to guide teen girls through one of life’s most important transitions with reverence, wisdom, skill-building, and belonging.

A Different Way to Grow Up

Instead of confusion, shame, isolation, or rushing through this season, imagine your daughter being welcomed into womanhood through:

  • Sacred mentorship

  • Practical ancestral skills

  • Positive body literacy

  • Emotional resilience

  • Community sisterhood

  • Confidence-building experiences

  • Meaningful ceremony

  • Deep connection with nature

  • Intergenerational support from mothers, aunties, and elders

This is not simply a program.

It is a remembering.

Guided by the Five-Pointed Star

At the center of this journey is the Five-Pointed Star — our framework for healthy maturation and self-leadership.

Each point represents a core quality every young woman needs to embody as she grows:

Point One: Safety

Grounding, boundaries, protection, confidence in the body.

Point Two: Belonging

Connection to community, place, sisterhood, and self.

Point Three: Worth

Recognizing gifts, building confidence, honoring one’s value.

Point Four: Trust

Listening to intuition, making choices, inner steadiness.

Point Five: Wholeness

Remembering nothing essential is missing within.

Through monthly gatherings, girls don’t just learn these values — they live them.

What Happens in the Program?

Across the seasonal journey, participants gather for immersive Sundays of learning, connection, and hands-on experience.

They will experience:

  • Nature-based mentorship circles

  • Meditation and embodiment practices

  • Storytelling and sacred songs

  • Female body literacy education about their cycles

  • Ancestral crafts and practical skills

  • Quiet reflection and sit spot time

  • Somatic movement and dance

  • Community meals and belonging

They will also create their own ceremonial elements for their rite of passage:

  • Necklaces

  • Baskets

  • Shawl

  • Gifts for the supporters

Each item becomes a symbol of growth, capability, and personal power.

  • Entering adolescence or newly menstruating

  • Ready for greater confidence and responsibility

  • Curious about themselves and the world

  • Open to nature-based learning

  • Longing for authentic community

  • Ready to be seen, celebrated, and supported

This Path Is For Girls Who Are:

For Parents Who Know…

You know this season matters.

You know screens, peer pressure, and modern culture are not enough to guide your daughter into womanhood.

You know confidence does not come from words alone.

You know girls need community, challenge, skill, beauty, responsibility, and ceremony.

You know she deserves more than “figuring it out alone.”

You are right.

What Girls Leave With

By the end of this journey, participants often leave with:

  • Stronger self-worth

  • Greater confidence in their voice

  • Positive relationship with their changing body

  • Practical life skills

  • Emotional resilience

  • Healthy friendships and sisterhood

  • Deeper connection to nature

  • Pride in who they are becoming

  • A felt sense of belonging

The Culminating Weekend Ceremony

At the completion of the program, girls enter a beautiful weekend rite of passage held by community.

Supported by mothers, aunties, elders, and Ceremony Keeper Rachel Ruach Golden, participants are ceremonially honored for the journey they have walked and the young women they are becoming.

This includes:

  • Fire tending through the night

  • Individual initiation moments

  • Mentorship and witnessing

  • Rest and integration

  • Celebration feast prepared together

  • Community blessing and acknowledgment

This is the kind of memory that lives in a young woman’s bones for a lifetime.
